Lakeside Guest House

We left the car parked and walked into town, which was close enough to reach on foot while still feeling peaceful and away from the bustle. The home-baked bread was delicious, and Martin's wicked breakfast set us up for the day. We even ate in the garden each morning. Everything felt clean and homely, and Martin was hospitable and easy to chat with. He'd also arranged for a neighbour to let us in and show us to our room, even though we arrived late on Friday. We had a fabulous weekend at the Lakeside and will definitely visit again. Thanks for making our stay memorable :)

Martin, the proprietor, is a lovely, friendly musician who makes his own beautiful bread every day and a good English breakfast. Let him know your needs in advance and he'll cater for them. The Lakeside Guest House feels like a homely family home, tucked away in a cul-de-sac with a single driveway that fits one car. Our double bed was comfortable, and Martin made us feel very welcome. We arrived late, and he kindly cooked us a lovely cheese omelette with salad and a can of beer for Bob, so we didn't have to go out for dinner. Much appreciated. Thank you, Martin, for being such a lovely host.

Martin made our weekend stay at Lakeside Guest House feel so welcoming. The rooms were lovely and clean, with extremely comfy beds, and breakfast was superb. He'd baked the bread fresh himself. We'd absolutely book again :)

Breakfast was served around a big communal table in the kitchen, so guests could chat instead of sitting silently apart. If you prefer some quiet, Martin is happy to accommodate you and serve at another time. We also enjoyed walking into town through the RSPB bird sanctuary at Radipole lake, which was much quicker than driving. The guest house is small, clean, and comfortable, and Martin made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a really good stay, and I heartily recommend it.
