Getting there without a car was difficult, and there isn't much nearby. Inside, it felt oddly quiet for such a traditional pub, with no real buzz. The waitress seemed grumpy at times but was also lovely, which made for a strangely awkward meal. The food was okay, with decent portions and good flavour, though it came out warm rather than hot. The kitchen was happy to make a few changes to the dishes. We did get the sense they wanted us to leave because service was nearly over, and even heard someone in the kitchen ask, "have they gone yet".

We ordered four sides and didn't need that many, the portions are huge, so be warned! The staff were friendly and attentive, and the Sunday lunch was perfectly cooked and presented. Really delicious, good value, and we'll definitely be back. Great place!

We're up here on holiday and just had four Sunday roasts. Bloody fantastic, with generous portions, great quality and super service. I'd highly recommend it to anyone staying at the Blackwood Forest Holiday resort.

The lady looking after us was friendly and chatty, and the food was very good. I had the creme brulee and loved it. I'd definitely recommend this pub.
