Ashleigh House

The host was friendly and extremely helpful, the rooms were good, and breakfast was very nice. We had a really pleasant two-night stay for the Great North Swim, and the service was excellent. It's close to the train station and bus, which will be a five-star location for some. It was a little farther from where we wanted to be, though, hence my slight reduction on location. Parking is limited and tight. There's street parking outside, with steep steps to carry bags up, or rear parking through a narrow tunnel. It may feel daunting if you're nervous driving, but my friend and I got a BMW 5 Series and an Audi Q4 e-tron through and parked, and neither is a small car. I'll check availability next time we're in Windermere.

The views deserve a mention of their own, the photos in my review show what I mean. This is a lovely, bright and tidy old house, set in a quiet, cozy spot. The rooms are spacious and nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it's close to the train and bus station as well as some of the best restaurants in the area.

As first-time visitors to the Lake District, we appreciated the maps, bus timetables, and walking tips the very friendly and helpful hosts gave us. Breakfasts were great, and the house is near the train station, several good restaurants, and close enough to walk to the lake. We had a great weekend here and would definitely recommend it and stay again.

The view from our window was brilliant, and the room was clean and great, with lots of space and a super comfy bed. The owner was really attentive, and the service came with a smile.
