I came to see the building as it’s being converted from a hotel into apartments. Even unfinished, you can tell where the apartments will be and get a sense of their views. The building is stunning, and what I could see of the apartments looked amazing. Big thumbs up from me.

The bed was very comfortable, and the room had plenty of space and was very clean. It was hot at first, but the table fan they provided helped a lot. The receptionist was friendly and accommodating, showed us to the room and explained how everything worked. We were out most of the day and only stayed briefly to sleep, so it suited our needs. The two nights were reasonably priced too.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times before and had a good time each visit. This trip was for our anniversary long weekend, during a difficult period when everyone was working to recover and get back on their feet. The hotel team were facing those same challenges, so that felt worth bearing in mind. Our room was clean, spacious and as nice as ever. Breakfast wasn’t available because of the logistics, which was disappointing, though outside the hotel’s control. The dinner choices were limited, but the food was good. There weren’t many staff with guest numbers still low, but everyone we spoke with was polite, helpful and very nice. And to be clear, we had no real complaint about the stay.

We’re here for one night at the moment, and the room has left us feeling that this hotel needs a substantial update. The disabled shower room has lots of black marks near the bottom of the walls and needs painting, while the bedspread has a lot of dirty marks. The chairs also look worn and need a good clean. There’s no air conditioning, and the little electric fan we were given doesn’t do much. The kettle is awkward too: you can’t fill it with enough water from the top if you want to make tea, so a smaller one is needed. We’ll see what breakfast is like in the morning, but right now I couldn’t recommend the hotel. When we come down again, we’ll look for somewhere else.

Brown, the hostess, was lovely to talk with while she brought me dishes. The room suited my mobility needs really well, with a spacious, thoughtfully laid-out bathroom. I liked having the chairs and table, and the bed was comfortable. The whole weekend felt stress free. I’ll definitely come back. X
