I had breakfast with my family, who were staying at the hotel, and the bill was unbelievable. The menu listed four cooked breakfasts with prices, plus tea, coffee and toast without prices. Since the full English was £17, I assumed tea was included; the menu didn't say otherwise. Before my hot meal arrived, I ate a small Pain au Chocolat. When I paid, they charged £10 for my breakfast roll, separately for two small pots of tea, and another £19 for the pastry. To me, that was a rip-off and some of the sharpest business practice I've encountered. When I questioned the bill, the staff were rude, condescending and unhelpful, suggesting I should have guessed a small pastry would cost £19. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE.

We arrived in a rush around 7:30 pm after an event nearby, and the staff couldn't have been kinder. They quickly helped us get food before we had to head back out. We both ordered fish and chips, and it was so good. The pub is gorgeous, our stay was lovely and comfortable, and breakfast was the icing on the cake. A special thank you to the staff, who were so helpful throughout. We'll definitely be back!

The staff were excellent, the service was top notch, and the food was superb. We had a memorable Friday lunch and plan to return sometime in 2026. My wife and I certainly will. Thanks, and sorry about the washing up. We first got in touch about a work Christmas lunch for around eight people. The group grew to ten and one child, and each time I emailed with updated numbers or questions about menus and timings, the team responded politely and helpfully. We arrived at 1 pm, and there was plenty of parking for our three cars. A huge table was ready with lots of space, and they even added a high chair at the last minute, which I'd forgotten to request. We had assorted starters. The Baked Camembert with cranberry, onion relish and warm bread was lovely; others had chilli prawns and salmon mousse, and nobody complained. The mains included steak, excellent salt beef for my wife, roast Turkey and a huge cod and chips. For dessert, the cheesecakes, Xmas Pudding and sharing cheese platter all went down well. We also had lagers, wine, soft drinks and coffees. It was a great three hours or so. The location was great too.

The Talbot gave us a wonderful afternoon with family and friends to celebrate our Mother's life, and we left feeling uplifted. After enjoying more than one lovely meal there, we chose it for my mother's wake last week. I'm so glad we did. The food was fabulous, with many guests complimenting it, and the service was excellent. They arranged the music we requested, which added to the atmosphere. My sister stayed overnight and said the bed was fabulous and breakfast really good. We're grateful to the wonderful team. Thank you for making the day so special.
