We used to love coming here, and the old staff were always welcoming and friendly. Over the last few months it’s felt completely different, as though the place changed hands, and none of the staff we knew are around. The first few times we came back, the barman seemed more interested in his phone than serving us. The bar was dirty, and we had to get his attention whenever we wanted a drink. Before, staff noticed when we’d finished, asked if we wanted another, and chatted with us. Now it feels like we’re a bother. On a recent visit we waited a while, then when we finally got someone’s attention, they said, “Can’t you see I’m talking.” The pub feels so unwelcoming now. It’s a shame, we used to love it.

The pub had a great atmosphere on Friday evening. A band played good music inside, loud enough to lift the mood but not too loud, and Callum behind the counter was friendly and polite. There’s also delicious Brazilian bbq in the rear garden at weekends. Great pub.

This was based on a visit last summer. On a Friday afternoon it felt full of dodgy trader types, there was no ale on tap, and the BBQ setup looked well short of basic food safety standards. In summer it seemed good for young crowds who want to drink all day and stand outside shouting at each other late into the night. It looks like the new management are working on these problems, and hopefully the place becomes more welcoming.

I’ve had a lovely time at a few parties here, including a recent Halloween one. It’s cosy and family friendly, with great food and excellent service. Booking ahead and the organisation were both top notch. I’d happily come back 👌🏻✅

There’s seating indoors and outside, where you can face a small stream. The pub in Old Woking has a really homely, positive feel, and the atmosphere is a 10/10. It’s got a good children’s menu and a little play area, too. The bright exterior really stands out, just as it does in the photos, and caught my eye from a distance as I walked over. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.
