I left after one night even though I was booked for two. The mattress was terribly uncomfortable, and loud music played until the small hours in the middle of the week. There was a bullet hole in the window, mould in the shower, and a strange smell that a heavy dose of air freshener didn’t cover well. The room light didn’t work either. A review from over a year earlier about the room I stayed in mentioned the bullet hole and the broken light, which makes it seem like they do only the bare minimum to look after the property. The room was warm, unlike places that skimp on heating, the linens were clean, and staff were pleasant. They seemed genuinely sorry when I asked them to turn the music down. The dates I stayed, it cost the same as Toby carvery or the premier inn. They’re further out, but the beds are a damn sight more comfortable.

We all popped in for steak last night, and it was such a lovely meal. The food was homemade, beautifully cooked and delicious. Top-notch grub.

The rooms are a bit dated, but clean and tidy. The staff are really friendly.

This was one of the worst places I’ve stayed, a 0/5. The whole building needs an overhaul, and even dogs wouldn’t be able to stay there. The room had exposed waste pipes, which raised hygiene concerns, and the walls and ceilings were damaged, with visible marks and cracks. There was no wardrobe, so clothes were left exposed to dust. The bathroom was unclean, and I found a coin in the toilet right after checking in. There were tissues scattered along the general walkway, suggesting poor housekeeping. I was also concerned about security. The pub downstairs has no access control, so members of the public could potentially enter residential areas. These conditions don’t seem suitable for a long stay and may create respiratory or hygiene-related health issues. The lack of security also leaves residents at risk of unauthorized access.

The rooms smelled dirty and had no attached bathrooms, so you have to use a shared restroom. It was filthy and smelled awful, and I think using it could leave you with diseases. The bedspreads were stained and dirty too. On Saturday, very loud music carried on until midnight, so nobody could sleep. The worst hotel I’ve seen anywhere in the UK. If you’re travelling with family, avoid staying there.
