The Preston

The food was fresh and tasty, so no complaint there. But the place felt a little run down, and the bar badly needs stripping out and refitting. I was there for my grandad’s wake. The GM could have been friendlier, and more than one person who attended mentioned her rudeness.

I stayed here on a work trip and found it great value, with a large, clean room. The check-in was very attentive. I’d try this place first next time I’m back for work.

Meg was kind and welcoming during a very sad day, and her organisation and attention to detail were exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble when we held my sister-in-law’s wake here a few days ago. The buffet and beautiful homemade cakes she provided were delicious and amazing. The barman was friendly and helpful as well. All the guests were impressed with the venue, and I can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for excellent service. Thank you so much, Meg, you’re a star!

After saying goodbye to my father, it meant a lot to be made to feel so welcome here. The staff were incredibly helpful with everything, even sending personalised directions for parking. The clean, modern room was comfortable, and I’d recommend the hotel for a function or a stay. I booked it for my father’s wake because it was close to Yeovil Crematorium. One guest was both coeliac and vegetarian, and a staff member called her personally to check her requirements. At the reception, her food was beautifully arranged on a cake tier. There was plenty of good-value food, all to a very good standard. The lemon cake baked by a staff member was especially delicious. I had four slices!
