Bowman's Guesthouse

We stayed five nights at Bowmans Guesthouse and will definitely return on our next trip to York. Debra made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The rooms were lovely and clean, and breakfast was excellent. It's also very close to the centre for sightseeing. A real gem, and we're glad we found it. Date of stay: August 2019

The location was ideal, just under a ten-minute walk from the centre, and the rooms had a homely feel. The owners were really kind and helpful, and left complimentary tea, coffee and snacks. I'd stay again if I'm ever in york!

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including juices, yoghourts, cereals and fruit. The main course was cooked fresh to order, with flexibility, and couldn't be faulted. My spacious room was immaculate and tidy, like the rest of the house, and came with the advertised kettle, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, apart from my own, of course. Debra and Dave were friendly, wonderful hosts, and nothing was too much trouble. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived several hours early. The location felt safe and was about a ten-minute walk, if that, from the city centre. York has to be one of the UK's most beautiful and interesting cities. Highly recommended. I'll definitely return next time I'm in York.

Deborah, the owner, always greeted me with a smile and a tempting full English breakfast. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and it's very well placed for York Minster, the city walls and other sights. I'd happily stay again next time I'm in town.
