The Millfield

The bedrooms were probably the best part of the property. They were all a good size with decent storage, and the attic ensuite was especially striking. Its velux windows helped with airflow, and it was really comfortable. The place has boutique styling, with a large kitchen and dining area. The rear courtyard let things down. Russian vine was taking over one wall and made it difficult to get to the back. Cutting it down and adding scented climbers could make the space much more usable and enjoyable. We found unsafe electrics under the kitchen cupboards, including open junction boxes and exposed wires. Those need sorting out. The wifi didn't work at all during our stay. At first, the agents' response was to suggest we fix it ourselves. After some discussion, the owner's son came out several times and BT engineers replaced a lot of wiring connections, but the wifi still never worked. We also had regular visitors coming into the premises, which invaded our space and wasn't what we wanted on holiday. Since leaving, the agents haven't replied to our request for compensation for the extra wifi costs we incurred. The property probably deserves 4* overall, but the electrics need fixing and the agents need to communicate better.
