The Old Hotel Luxury apartments

We left the car at the property and walked or took a cab around, which was handy with how expensive city parking can be. It’s close enough to the centre, and there’s an off-license nearby too. The place had what we needed for a short break, and the staff were really accommodating. It felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend.

We stayed for two nights and found it really easy to get around, with parking right there. There’s no reception desk, so we skipped the usual registration and went straight to our room, The Pope's Head. I loved the way the rooms are named. It’s pet-friendly and furnished with everything you need. Such a cosy place to stay.

The apartment stayed freezing throughout our night there, and we paid £160 for that one-night stay. We expected somewhere warm and cosy, but it was the complete opposite. At 8pm, a maintenance man came out and agreed it was far too cold, saying the boiler had been completely switched off. We’d already made several calls to get it sorted, and staff insulted me on the phone. The managers were very rude, and they keep the heating controls locked so guests can’t set the thermostat themselves. It never warmed up. It was a night from hell, and the whole stay was miserable. Save yourself the hassle and avoid this place.

There’s a designated off-street parking space for one car, at an extra but reasonable cost. The Lady Peckett Room was spacious and comfortable, and it’s about a 20-minute walk into the centre. Highly recommend.
