Downtown Hotel Tbilisi

It looked good online, and the location was great. I booked through booking and went there, but the person at the front insisted there were no rooms and kept telling me to leave. Very strange. I managed to cancel and get my money back, but I didn't stay.

Our room was much smaller than advertised, with uncomfortable beds, a sofa bed that wasn't suitable for our child, and a broken window with a pane missing. There was no elevator, just steep, narrow stairs to carry all our luggage up. We only got two towels for three people and one roll of toilet paper, and they refused to give us more. The website claimed there was parking, but there wasn't, so we had to look for a spot on the street. We arrived in the evening to find reception empty, and waited over half an hour for the receptionist. She was rude, saying she had to leave to shop before the supermarket closed. Later, our child had an accident at night, likely because of the cold air coming through the broken window. In the morning I had to wait again because reception was empty. I explained what happened, asked for fresh linens, apologized, and said the sofa didn't seem damaged. That evening the receptionist came to our door and said we had to pay a cleaning fine for the old, neglected sofa, and twice that if it happened again. We refused. She said we should have put a diaper on our 5-year-old and that children don't usually wet the bed. We later found a garbage bag under the sheets instead of a protective cover. She came back minutes later and threatened to make us leave without a refund if it happened again. The same receptionist also made a racist remark about our child, saying she had a "Jewish appearance." We felt unsafe and asked to leave, but they refused to refund our money.

The central location was a plus, but reaching the main area meant walking along dim side streets, which could feel uncomfortable, especially at night. The property felt like a basic converted house, not the 3-star place advertised, and many online photos showed rooms that weren't there. The cramped foyer served as the lobby, reception and luggage storage, with no dining area. We had booked breakfast for six, but staff wouldn't honor it, calling it a mistake. They also insisted on cash despite having a card machine. Getting to the room was difficult with luggage because the stairwell was narrow and the steps steep. It didn't seem safe for children either. The property fell short of the comfort and services we expected from its advertised rating.

We liked the central location and modern room, but the service was terrible and unprofessional. We stayed four nights, and toiletries weren't replenished unless we asked. The woman working there couldn't speak any English, so communication was impossible. She kept knocking on our door in the morning to call us to breakfast, even though the stated hours were 9 to 11. It seemed staff decided when we had to eat. She even came into our room without asking.
