Walking the cobblestone streets is fun, and the old town has lovely cafes, restaurants, hotels, local designer shops, cathedrals, and more. It’s a quaint UNESCO-listed area, but stick to the main streets. The back lanes are deserted, with abandoned buildings and homes, many damaged in the 2002 earthquake and never repaired or rebuilt.
