Marcos Hotel

We checked in around midnight without any trouble. The rooms were large and clean, and the hotel is close to the airport. We paid 30 EUR for a place with two rooms for our family of three adults, so it was really good value.

I was left hungry after waiting an hour for breakfast, with nobody available to serve it. Maybe everyone was already out or busy before noon. One staff member came to apologize, but my transfer was due in five minutes by then. The airport pickup I’d arranged with the hotel went smoothly, and the driver was there. I was probably too trusting when I followed him to a stall selling SIM cards. He got 20 GEL in cash as a commission, which I may have ended up paying indirectly, and Silknet isn’t the best network. I also mentioned I was heading straight to Kazbegi the next day. His expression and tone changed, and he seemed unhappy that I’d already arranged transport. He tried to talk me out of it. Sorry, my friend, but if you charge me twice what a Bolt costs for an airport transfer, it’s hard to trust you with a three-hour drive with stops. For the price, I think this is one of the better options around the airport. It’s a short drive, with a warm shower and a bed to rest in. So far, so good.

The manager was on time to take us to the airport and ordered food for us, which I appreciated. The hotel was also really hard to find. The night itself was a mess. The mattress was uncomfortable, and the sheets kept sliding around, so I couldn’t sleep. There weren’t any tables in the room, which made eating the food I’d ordered there difficult. The shower wasn’t properly clean either, with hair left around from what looked like previous guests. The kitchen was filthy, so we couldn’t eat there, and we had to buy water. Overall, it wasn’t very clean, and our plan for a rested night before an early flight was ruined.

They kindly showed me to my room even though I got in at 2am. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. A Georgian grandma cooked breakfast for me in the morning. I’ll be back!
