Parallax Hostel

The name makes this sound like a hotel, but it’s really a run-down hostel that badly needs renovation and better upkeep. Its best feature is the location, with a large Carrefour supermarket just steps away. There’s also a pleasant terrace to relax on after a busy day, a well-equipped kitchen in the basement, and the owner was friendly and easy to communicate with. Our first private room was in the basement and smelled of mould, so we didn’t feel it was healthy to stay there. The owner moved us upstairs to a better room for free, but the furniture in both rooms was old. The first had an AC unit; in the larger second room, we couldn’t open the windows. The smaller room had a fridge that was extremely dirty inside, and cleanliness overall was questionable. My friend also found that the radiators were on and heating despite the hot weather.

The bathroom wasn’t clean, and the room we booked smelled awful. The towel they gave us had already been used and smelled bad too. Staying here was a really poor experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

The host was friendly, the beds were very soft, and the main sights in Tbilisi are just a short walk away. The place is nice, though it’s more of a hostel. The owner is willing to rent you the entire room for a reasonable price.

The host was really kind and helpful, and the location is great. It’s an interesting place to stay and very cheap, so you have to accept some compromises. A few things weren’t working, but at that price, well, it’s so cheap!
