Avant Garde Suites

I stayed with my teenage daughter in room 3, at the end of the ground floor. The view was amazing, the suite was spacious, and the outdoor hot tub was warm and clean. Towels for it were provided, and our room was cleaned and the beds made each day. On arrival we had a bottle of sweet wine and two small complimentary bottles of mineral water. After that, water cost extra, though you can buy it at the local supermarket. Tap water isn’t suitable for tea or coffee. Maria and another young woman with brown hair, whose name I didn’t catch, were lovely. Room service was available; my daughter loved the homemade fries, and we had a Greek salad on our first evening. The strong wind was a real problem. Most days we couldn’t use the hot tub, and we could hear the wind while trying to sleep. Other guests can walk in front of the suites, so there’s little privacy in the suite or hot tub. Reception closes at 9pm, leaving nobody around if you need something later. They provided only one roll of toilet paper a day, and I had to ask twice for more, which I found bizarre. Breakfast is no longer brought to the rooms. The property feels dated and needs some care. I wouldn’t rate it as a four-star place, more like three stars.

The quiet setting in Akrotiri made for a peaceful Santorini stay, while still keeping us close to the main attractions. Our suite was roomy and beautifully designed, with gorgeous Caldera views and magical sunsets. We also loved having a private pool to relax in after exploring. The staff were warm and ready to help with anything, from local suggestions to arranging transport. We had an exceptional time at Avant Garde Suites and highly recommend it for comfort, luxury, and great service.

Avant Garde is a lovely hidden gem in Santorini, with breathtaking Caldera views and a genuinely friendly, helpful team. Ms. Alexandra at reception was especially great. She booked several activities for us at good prices, which saved us time and effort. We really hope to come back.

The balcony hot tub was lovely, even if it felt more lukewarm than hot to me as an American used to very hot tubs! We also had wine on arrival, and the staff were friendly and helpful with arranging excursions and transport around the island. The views were amazing, and the whole stay felt dreamy and romantic for our honeymoon. Breakfast arrived on the balcony every morning and was delicious. This was the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and I 100% recommend Avant Garde Suites.
