It feels like a proper tucked-away escape, though Chania is close enough for the sea or shopping. You’ll want a hire car so you’re not stuck. The villa is finished to a really high spec, and I loved being able to run up into the hills on quiet roads.

The rental agency was easy to reach whenever we needed something, whether that was restaurant suggestions or help arranging a boat trip. The villa itself is a great fit for a group holiday, with everything we needed, a lovely pool, and a luxurious feel in a peaceful area.

Stella from the management company was great to communicate with, and her recommendations were helpful. The villa feels very private, with beautiful mountain views, and the location is handy too: there’s a supermarket, fish shop, bakery, and some nice restaurants right nearby. Chania is only a few minutes away by car, with more shops and some great beaches. The place is brand new, spotless, and equipped with just about everything. We’d love to come back, hopefully soon.

The outdoor area was the highlight for me, with a great barbecue, shaded and sunny seating spots, plenty of loungers, and a pool that stayed in perfect shape throughout. We were there for six nights in June 2022, and Stella was wonderful, helping whenever we needed something. Alikianos is a lovely, quaint area, though there’s a lot of pollen and flowers, so it may be tough if you have hay fever. The house is spacious and open plan, with everything we could need and then some, including strong water pressure, AC, and WiFi. I’d happily stay again if we returned to Chania.

The villa is beautiful and really well equipped. Having it cleaned once during the week was a nice surprise, since that hasn’t happened in other holiday villas I’ve stayed in. With a car, the location is spot on, and the little village is pleasant, with a good taverna.
