Royalty Hotel Athens

The Executive room was spacious and cozy, with a large balcony overlooking Monastiraki Square. It had a kettle, a Nespresso coffee machine with two capsules per day, and a minibar fridge. The rooftop bar looks out over the Acropolis and Monastiraki Square. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel’s location couldn’t be better. A few small issues: hot water pressure in the shower was inconsistent, and sometimes there was no hot water at all. WiFi was very slow, and breakfast had little variety. If you come down after 9 a.m., some dishes may already be gone. Since the hotel is beside the busy central square, street noise carries on until late at night.

The staff were welcoming and professional, and the rooms were clean and thoughtfully designed. It’s calm and comfortable inside, with an elegant feel and warm hospitality. The location makes it easy to explore the city while still giving you a peaceful stay. A comfortable, memorable place in Greece, highly recommended.

We slept badly because noise carried between rooms, and water pipes kept rattling through the night. The room was also too warm in winter: outside it was 18 degrees, while indoors it reached 24. The AC had been set to heating, and opening the windows brought in too much street noise to air the room comfortably. The staff were helpful, and breakfast was a small but practical spread. The location is the hotel's strongest point.

The main concern for me was safety: the room contained a dusty plant that triggered my dust allergy. My eyes became red and watery, I had trouble breathing, and I feared the risk of Quincke's edema. When I asked for the plant to be removed, housekeeping staff spoke offensively in Greek, apparently thinking I wouldn't understand. I also woke after the first night with bites across my face and chest. I didn't personally see the insects other travelers mentioned, but the bites were there. I had booked and paid for a suite with a balcony, which was important to my choice. My confirmation and the Booking photos show that category, but the room I received was entirely different and had no balcony. When I tried to reach management, reception said they weren't responsible; management wasn't at the hotel and didn't answer my emails. Other problems matched what I'd read in guest comments. Breakfast ran out of food in the middle of service, even bread. They also lacked the dental kit and other amenities they said they'd provide on request. The shower stayed cold apart from about three minutes of hot water, and the linens were torn and dirty. This spoiled my three-night New Year holiday, though that's not my biggest concern. The dust made the room feel unsafe for someone with my health condition. I have attached evidence.
