The only slight positive was the location. You can walk to the city center and port in about 5-10 minutes, but that small plus hardly made up for the negatives. I strongly warn anyone who wants to enjoy a holiday in Syros: never book here. The rooms were noisy enough to make it seem like the neighbours were in the same room. When people came home, noise filled the staircase and light shone into the room. The rooms were nothing like the shared pictures: old, dirty, and small. There was hair everywhere in the bath and shower, the shampoo/bodywash had already been used, the beds were very uncomfortable, and the bedsheets had unidentifiable stains. It seemed cleaning only meant emptying the trash and changing the towels. The host was the most unfriendly person I’ve met on vacation in Greece, or in my whole live. He sat in the lobby with his naked feet on the desk, and before even saying hello he said he wanted payment right away. Cash payment had been mentioned beforehand, so that part was okay, but I never got a receipt. When I asked for one, he got angry and pissed and still didn’t give it to me.

It’s good value for money, but the hassle wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you don’t know Greek. The room itself was really decent and clean, with a small balcony, but communicating with the host was very difficult. I called to confirm my reservation and he said there were no rooms, then hung up, even though booking.com had emailed me a confirmation. I ended up having to turn up and find out whether I actually had a room. When I arrived there was no one at reception, and I had to call a few times to learn how to get into my room.

100% value for money, with a great location and a very nice studio on the top floor. We’d have liked someone to help us carry our suitcases up and down 3 floors, and more frequent cleaning visits would have been nice.

The hotel is great if you're easygoing, and I loved it! Amelia, the cleaner, greeted us and was very helpful with everything. She could be reached by phone and fixed any problem right away. The owner was away, so she handled everything until he showed up to collect the rent. Our room had a bedroom with two single beds, a wardrobe, a sidetable, a chair, and a table lamp. The kitchen had a fridge, a stove with 2 hot rings, a kitchen table, and a sink, plus one single bed, a unit for your suitcase, a mirror, and a table with a TV on it. Most channels are Greek, though some are English spoken or American. There was also a toilet with a shower and hand basin. The cooker would flip the electric fuses if anything else was being used. Nearby there’s a square and shopping street, about 5 minutes away on foot, with a convenient store, bakeries, fish monger, butcher's, souvenir shops, restaurants, bars, clothes shops, and kiosks selling bits and pieces. The harbour is also about 5 minutes away. We used the free local mini bus and the reasonably priced other buses to get around the island, so I don't know about car hiring.

When I arrived at Syros, I was told there was no room available. They said they had emailed me about it, but I never received anything. The person I contacted said he would try to find alternative accommodation, but I never got a call back.
