When we arrived, it was clear the steps wouldn’t work for my mother, who has limited mobility. The owner immediately went out of his way to find us somewhere else, canceled our booking with a full refund, escorted me to the new place, and personally introduced us at the front desk. We’d had excellent communication with him through booking.com beforehand. I’m extremely grateful and amazed by how helpful he was.

We had a lovely, relaxing week in these cute, clean little apartments. There’s a great view of Oia, and the sunsets are amazing. It’s only 3 km from Oia, and towels were changed and the apartment cleaned every day. The one drawback is getting back from Oia: there’s no direct transport unless you take the long route via Fira. If you ask, though, the bus will stop along the way.

The private balconies have a stunning view, and the hosts made us feel at home with how welcoming they were. Finikia itself was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece, a fantastic little town about a 30-minute walk from Oia. It doesn’t have Oia’s resort feel, so keep that in mind if that’s what you’re after. The Fira-Oia walking route, a must-do in Santorini, is just a five-minute walk away. I warmly recommend this place!

After a long journey, the owner came into our room and started talking without considering that we might need a breather or not feel like chatting. When I asked for a ground-floor room because of my knee and leg injury, I was rudely told, “This is not a hotel, so you get what you get.” We also weren’t allowed into reception for some reason. The bathroom was uncomfortable, and the whole experience felt really weird. One of my worst experiences in Greece.
