Abasa Suites

The property takes a bit of effort to reach, around a 20-minute walk from Fira bus station. The caretaker encouraged us to take a cab to Thira port, although we later learned buses ran there too, and pushed restaurant bookings through the property despite several nearby places taking walk-ins. On the plus side, we spent three days in a spacious, well-kept room, liked the breakfast choices, and appreciated being allowed to check in early. They also let us refill our water for free in the kitchen.

They clean the room every day, and the place was busy even in November during winter, which says a lot. A couple of costs to know about: the city tax is 2 EUR per night, paid in cash, and the jacuzzi costs 20 EUR if you want to use it. Breakfast starts at 8:00, so an early flight could mean missing it.

The pool was a hit with our kids, and the suites were really nice. The manager and staff had such lovely, positive energy. Fira is just close enough, but getting there means a tough walk of more than 20 minutes, mostly uphill with hardly any shade. Breakfast choices are limited, and you choose what you want the day before. Tap water isn't drinkable, though filtered water is available.

Fira is about a 20-minute walk away, and in the heat that can feel like a lot. Santorini also isn't easy to get around with a stroller, so with a baby I'd say a carrier is a must. We had a wonderful stay at Abasa Suites, though. Tijana was incredibly welcoming and helped with everything from taxi transfers to tours, which made traveling with our baby much easier. The rooms were very spacious, the showers were amazing, and the rest of the staff were kind and always smiling. We'd HIGHLY recommend Abasa Suites.
