Asteras Villas

Ivet was outstanding, taking care of things as manager, concierge, and local guide all at once. Asteras Villas made us very happy: communication was excellent, check-in went smoothly, the service was great, breakfast was delicious, and the suite was terrific.

The views from the room were phenomenal, and it was hard to pull ourselves away from the balcony to explore. We were in the Venus Suite, where the A/C worked perfectly, the bathroom was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony jacuzzi was just right for a quick cool down. Although there are plenty of bars nearby, the sound insulation was so good that we slept without hearing the noise. The caldera view is to the left, though it doesn’t show in some of my photos. Breakfast was stellar, and Eduardo, who takes care of the property’s cleanliness and breakfast service, made us feel at home. From the moment we arrived, hotel manager George greeted us with a huge smile and lots of energy. We got to check in early because our room was ready, though I’m sure that depends on availability and cleaning. George also gave us excellent tips for exploring the island. This was one of my best stays in Europe. It felt like a 5-star hotel, and I’d have stayed longer if I didn’t have flights home.

We only managed one night at Asteras Villas, since it’s deservedly popular, but it was memorable and we’d gladly return for longer. The caldera edge location looks straight out at the volcano, with some of the island’s most breathtaking views. Staff greeted us warmly, and a porter helped with our bags while we spoke with the property manager and checked in smoothly. The attentive service was just as impressive as the scenery. Our suite was down several steep flights of stairs, right beside the kitchen where breakfast is made. It had a private outdoor jacuzzi and a pleasant seating area with a table and chairs overlooking the caldera, lovely for sunset or a quiet morning coffee. Inside, the room was clean and comfortable, though the decor seemed a little dated. There was a walk-in shower, toilet, compact vanity, a spacious daybed area, and a proper queen-sized bed in a separate sleeping space. We could set the air conditioning to our liking. A special touch was the private exit onto the Agiou Mina pathway. Early in the morning we watched donkeys heading to the port, a charming glimpse of island life. We made good use of both the jacuzzi and the upper seating area attached to our suite.

George, the general manager, really made the stay for us. He was friendly, personable, and quick to respond, helped with check-in and our breakfast order, and shared his own tips for things to do around the island. The rooms were clean, the AC worked well, and the service was superb. The hotel can arrange airport taxis, which I’d recommend since taxis on the island are limited, especially at night. The central location and the views from the rooms are hard to beat. Highly recommend!
