Platia

The location is amazing, right in the centre of Fira. But I had an awful experience with the receptionist, Viki, who made several rude and racist comments. There was no room service, and no towel changes. I hadn’t realized when booking that it was more like an Airbnb than a hotel. The room was extremely dusty, and noise from the main streets made it hard to sleep. I stayed three nights in May this year.

We got in late at night, and Christina helped make sure we still had a comfortable night. She also arranged transport from the port, so arriving was easy. The room was modern and very clean, and we had coffee on the little sunny balcony in the morning. Thanks for everything, Christina! I highly recommend Platia Fira Luxury Rooms and would gladly return. 🤗

The pictures don’t quite capture it, the room and hotel were even better in person. It was comfortable for our stay, very clean, and well equipped. They even provided eggs and an egg boiler, which I’d never come across before. The location is right in the middle of things and close to the bus station. Nothing to fault, and I’d book here again if I’m back in Fira. Definitely recommend.

Christina, the owner and manager, was incredibly helpful, from explaining the egg boiler to arranging a transfer early enough for us to catch our ferry. She speaks excellent English and several other languages, and is cheerful all the time. The eggs came from her own chickens, though thankfully the chickens don’t live at the hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, large, clean, and updated, with more amenities than I could have imagined. There are just three rooms, in what used to be the owners’ city house, so expect lots of stairs like in a traditional Greek home. Both the roof and our balcony had great views, and the balcony was a lovely place to unwind after a day out. I’d worried about staying in the tourist area, but it turned out to be a nice part of town, with a mostly pedestrian street. Get the frozen Greek yogurt at Chill Box. The Platia itself is beautiful. I booked because our trip was getting close and we still didn’t have a room in Santorini, and I’d assumed this area would feel like being near a big city bus station. I was completely wrong. I can’t recommend this lovely place enough.
