Sky of Thira

The owner welcomed us with glasses of Santorini's Vin Santo and was keen to help us find a scooter and anything else we needed. The accommodation was spacious and clean, with a full kitchen. Sky of Thira is right off a main road, though, and we could hear traffic noise in the kitchen. It’s within walking distance of the centre of Thira and centrally placed on the island. By scooter, Oia and Akrotini are each no more than 20 minutes away. We’d book again.

The staff were great and the place was clean. The beds are up some stairs, and if you’re taller than 155cm, you’ll have to bend to get to the bed. Fira is a steep walk of about 20 minutes away, and the rooms were quite dark. The sink water was very salty even after we boiled it, and the shower water was salty too. Airport transfer cost 20€.

We booked at the last minute, and in Santorini this was one of the few places still available at the lowest price. It was an okay stay: the breakfast was decent, the staff were friendly, and the room was spacious, though the hotel felt quite dated. The location was neither especially good nor bad.

The breakfast was huge and served at the table rather than as a buffet. The hotel is about a 7-minute walk from Fira, with restaurants and scooter rentals nearby. Staff were very attentive, WiFi was free, and an airport or port shuttle was available for 20€.
