Theoxenia Caldera Hotel

We booked a Superior Sea View room for three people and made that clear from the outset. Instead, our first night was in room number 5, which faced a patio rather than the sea. The fridge was moldy and didn't work, and the food I needed to keep cold spoiled. They said all the electricity shuts off when a guest leaves the room. I know this system, and that doesn't happen in hotels using it. The next day, after I complained, room number 9 suddenly became available, and that actually matched our booking. But we'd already spent a night in room number 5, which was uninhabitable. The room we were first given was completely unacceptable. Alex at reception greeted us warmly when we arrived at the Theoxenia Hotel in Santorini and explained local activities and tourist spots. He even advised us against the restaurants across the street because he thought they weren't good. It all seemed friendly until the administration's intention to take advantage of inexperienced tourists and deceive us became clear. The stay was disappointing overall, though Alma genuinely did her job with a smile. The terrace had no shade and its furniture was ruined. The first bathroom was full of mold, and room number 5 should be avoided. The pool is four blocks away and usually costs €25 per person. As guests of this wonderful hotel, we were offered entry for the modest sum of €15 per person. The bottle of wine and fruit bowl gesture only showed how unserious the administration was. Still, I can say I'm happy. I got to experience something so absurd and disappointing, and I told the administration I was happy. They never imagined I meant I was happy to write this review. It was by far the most disappointing experience I've ever had. Our reservation was for a Superior Sea View room, and what we first received was unacceptable. Despite the good location, don't be fooled. Check the photos for expectation versus reality!
