Astra Suites

We chose Astra Suites for our honeymoon because we wanted somewhere special without spending an absurd amount, and Room 305 felt like the right call. It had a king bed, living room, patio and private plunge pool, with a frankly wild caldera and Skaros Rock view, even from the bathroom. The art in the room came from a local gallery, which we loved. The rooms do feel older and a little more retro than some nearby places, but ours was spacious, clean, luxurious and had everything we needed. Grace Hotel is close by and costs much more per night. Breakfast came to the patio or the indoor coffee table each morning, whichever we preferred, and there were lots of choices. The staff were cheerful and so helpful, and I kept being impressed by how they carried luggage and breakfast trays up and down all those stairs. Imerovigli was a great base for walking to Fira's sights and restaurants while staying away from the noise. There are plenty of steps, though, as you'd expect at a caldera hotel. One small drawback: our heated plunge pool could have been warmer. If you're visiting in October and want a really warm swim, a room with a hot tub might suit you better.

We had an air conditioner problem in our first room, and the staff promptly moved us to an even lovelier suite on the top floor. Both rooms were beautiful, and the way everyone handled it, with such kindness and professionalism, stayed with us. Breakfast arrived every morning on our private terrace above the caldera, and the views were breathtaking from every level. From arrival to departure, the service was incredible and the staff did so much to make the stay feel perfect. Astro Suites is a real Santorini gem. The place is hard to describe, you really have to experience it, and I can't recommend it enough.

We were so relaxed at Astra Suites in Imerovigli that we dropped some of our other Santorini plans just to spend more time there. The pool looking out toward Skaros rock and the sea was one of the best hotel views we've had, and room service was fantastic too. Our room was spotless when we arrived, with flowers and a bottle of wine waiting for us. This was our honeymoon in early October 2024, and the staff made us feel looked after from the start. Before we even reached Santorini, they had arranged a pickup at the ferry terminal, which helped us avoid the crowds, and booked us a table at Five Senses. They also served a personal breakfast on our balcony every morning, a lovely way to begin the day. Imerovigli felt calm and removed from the packed streets and noise elsewhere on the island, almost like being at the very top of Santorini. We hope to return to the island just so we can stay at Astra Suites again.

We'd book again in a heartbeat. The team was so thoughtful, remembered our names, and marked our honeymoon with little touches. Breakfast and lunch at the hotel were great, and the restaurant next door served one of our best meals on the trip. The rooms and amenities were already enough to make this the best hotel I've stayed in, and the caldera-facing pool gave us gorgeous sunsets every night. The staff and food are what made it feel so special.
