We spent 5 days here as a family and were really pleased with Castro Hotel. Our room for 4 was spacious, very clean, and in a quiet, relaxing area. The breakfast was tasty, and the staff were polite and quick to help whenever we needed something. The service was good throughout our stay.

The owner and staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms are a nice size, though the bathrooms are extremely small by US standards. It's about a 10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants. A lovely hotel with basic amenities.

The room had a broken balcony handle that came right out, so we couldn't open the door. When housekeeping came, they didn't change the sheets, refill the tissues, or bring fresh towels. Staff also complained about the mess we'd left, which seemed unnecessary to me since cleaning is part of their job. The owners insisted checkout was at 11 a.m., although Love Holidays clearly gave it as 12 p.m. They also quoted the tourist fee first as €30, then €25, when the actual amount was meant to be €20. A very frustrating stay at Castro Hotel in Santorini.

Basic hotel, and I'd avoid it if possible. No drinking water was provided, and the WiFi didn't work properly. The shower area was only 2x2. Breakfast wasn't great either. It's 10-15 minutes on foot from the bus stop, and buses come nearly an hour apart, so the location is a problem. Better to stay in FIRA or OIA if you don't want to wait for buses. Renting a car is a good option in Santorini.

The pool gets sun all day, with shade available when you want it, and there are plenty of comfortable loungers. The family who run the hotel are so warm and welcoming, and they work incredibly hard to make guests happy despite the staff shortage. Breakfast could be better, but we had such a good time we even looked into changing our flights to stay longer. The hotel and rooms are beautiful and exceptionally clean. This was our second visit, and it definitely won't be our last. Thank you, Castro, for a wonderful holiday. We WILL be back.
