Hotel Omiros

I liked the hotel, and the staff were really nice and friendly. The beds are hard, though, and there’s no elevator, so getting luggage to the room is very difficult. When we left, we had to take our bags down the back side on a hill to reach the front of the hotel.

The neighborhood felt safe, and there’s a grocery store across the street. The hotel itself was okay, around a US three-star level at most. Omiros could use some upgrades. The AC worked, breakfast was acceptable, but the bed was very firm and the Wi-Fi unreliable. It had gone into receivership shortly before our stay and was under new management while we were there. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. When we asked for a taxi to a beach, he suggested a better beach and an Uber, which worked out great. It was Mother’s Day, and everyone was kind. They recommended a few restaurants and warned us off some others, saying our stomachs might not handle them. Walking to those places felt scary, with no sidewalks and people driving wildly. We booked through Exoticca, and it was a good gamble.

The staff were super friendly, and having a pool in a European hotel is a plus since they can be hard to find. But I’m not sure how this place gets 4.5 stars. There’s no elevator, the bed felt like sleeping on bricks, and it seemed to be just box springs rather than a mattress. The exit sign in the room stayed on like a night light and couldn’t be switched off. I barely slept during the two days I was there. If this was the worst bed of my Europe vacation, I’ll take it. Breakfast costs extra, and I had crepes both mornings.

The staff were very nice and helpful whenever I needed something. Reception is open 24 hours, there are buffet breakfasts with delicious food, and the hotel can arrange airport transfers in either direction at a good price. They also let me leave my luggage after checkout. The room and bathroom were clean, and the quality was good for the price. It’s less than five minutes from the bus stop, close to grocery stores, and about a 20- to 30-minute walk from the airport.
