Hotel Kalma

The owner and her mother treated us so well and gave us everything we needed, plus more. When it was time to leave, they had a little gift for us. It was such a heartwarming gesture, and we were so glad to meet them. The hotel was great and incredibly clean, truly spotless. Thank you for all the kindness. We wish you the very best.

The woman at the desk was lovely, and the place felt clean, welcoming, and comfortable. The pool was a great touch, too. Getting around can be tricky if you don’t like public transport or renting a scooter or quad, since things are a little far away. But if you’re happy to use one of those options, it’s easy to explore the island. There’s a bus stop right outside.

The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable, with modern amenities and a balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom, though, is small and cramped by anyone’s standards. The hotel has no elevator, so it may not work for wheelchair users. We had to carry our luggage upstairs to our second-floor room. Breakfast includes hot and cold drinks, plus a range of breads, pastries, meats, and other items. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and attentive to what we needed. My family and I stayed from September 7 through 11, and I highly recommend the hotel. It’s in Messaria, about 3.5 kilometers from Fira, where most of the upscale shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions are. There’s a bus stop outside if you want to ride into Fira. In Messaria itself, the hotel is close to restaurants and a supermarket.

The bathroom is the one drawback for me. It’s so tiny and cramped that the shower, toilet, and sink feel like they overlap. Otherwise, I enjoyed the stay. The front desk staff were kind, friendly, and very helpful with getting around. They arranged a taxi to Oia and another to the airport at 4 a.m. Since I’d miss breakfast, the woman at the desk offered to pack me a takeaway breakfast with some food and water. The service was impeccable.
