Evmenia Luxury Cave Villa

We loved the location and how much room there was in the suite. We stayed with our two children, and each had space of their own. You also don’t have to battle cruise passengers for blue domed church photos. Be ready for a LOT of stairs to and from the main road, though. Our host Anastasia helped us book dinner and even found us another boat cruise the same day ours was cancelled. The breakfast was huge, the jacuzzi refreshing, and the views kept changing. Such an amazing hotel stay!

The downsides are worth knowing about. Tourists sometimes wander into the private areas because the popular photo spot is right by the entrance to several suites, including this one. They’d often step onto our balcony and into nearby suites, and some got cheeky when asked to leave. Sunset was the worst time. The stairs down are steep and uneven, so the place could be difficult for people with disabilities, older guests, or anyone afraid of heights. I managed fine, but two people staying with us found them challenging. Also, there’s no bathroom door, so when someone showered, the rest of us had to go out to the balcony. It probably suits couples better. Even with those issues, we had a relaxing, near-perfect time and would strongly recommend staying here. The suite was more stunning than the photos, right between the blue domes, with an incredible hot tub view. It was spacious, clean, and nicely equipped, including a kitchenette with an electric stove, pots, and pans. Our host Elèna was really kind and helpful: she organized taxis to and from the hotel and arranged excursions, which made our stay much better. Thank you so much, Elèna!

A few downsides: there’s no microwave or oven, the Wi-Fi is erratic, and there wasn’t enough hot water to fill the cave bathtub. Breakfast could use bread and fruit, and the rooftop pool needs more lighting. Even so, the views of the blue domes are the best, and the location between the two best-known photo spots, the photo point and steps, is hard to beat. The host communicated well on WhatsApp. The kitchen is great, the cave bathroom and tub are unique, and the place is super clean. The terrace hot tub is for exclusive use, and the porter and cab services were impeccable. I can’t think of a better place to stay in Oia.

The views were breathtaking, and after a long day the Jacuzzi was great. The room was excellent and the decor was excellent too. The tricky part was the stairs, since tourists taking photos would block the way down. I just wish there’d been matches for the candles, which would have made the shower feel more romantic.
