Black Sandy Beach Hotel

The staff were very kind and helpful, and the service was fabulous. Breakfast was really good and tasty. The hotel was clean and quiet, and the beach is only about a three-minute walk away. There's also a small pool for swimming or sunbathing.

The resort is expensive compared with the rest of Greece, but I'd still put it on a list of places to visit. We booked at the last minute for a week at the black sandy beach, looking for a small, friendly local hotel, and that's what we found. It's compact and well maintained, with quiet corners for reading or taking a break from the pool and beach. The staff were welcoming and around to answer questions, though sorry, I forgot your names. Rooms were cleaned immaculately every day, with fresh towels when needed. Our twin room was small, with a compact bathroom, toilet, shower cubicle and sink. Toiletries were provided and good quality. The wall paintings were unusual, not really my taste. The TV was in Greek, and there was a kettle with supplies, replenished daily or available at breakfast. The in-room fridge kept freezing things and leaking, but there was also a safe. The intimate pool was clean and cosy, though the beach and coastal resort strip were only three minutes away. Town has bars and tavernas. Breakfast was basic but tasty and had what you needed. Rooms have large balconies or terraces and shutters for a blackout. When eating out, I'd read reviews and still check places for yourself, since some top-rated restaurants focus on volume and there are tavernas and beach bars that may rip you off. Take the bus around the island, it's cheap and easy. Since it's a volcano island, beach shoes are useful for the sand and sea. Thanks for the relaxing stay. Efaristho x

I came back for a second year and brought friends this time. The staff were excellent and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms had everything we needed and were cleaned daily. The towel origami was a fun touch. The pool was just the right size, though one more step on the ladder would make getting out easier. It's close to the beach and the main street's bars and tavernas. Dina booked our Sunset boat trip and explained everything we needed to know. I'll definitely be back again.
