Sabbia Calda Apartments

Just perfect.

We’d happily stay here again if we return. The apartment was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities, and was only steps from the sea and lots of restaurants. Everyone was very nice, and it’s a good choice for families too. The staff were especially lovely. Mrs. Lina was always kind and very helpful. We highly recommend it.

For 915 euros, we stayed here for seven days in September with four people. The large terrace had a roomy table and shade in the morning and at lunchtime. The apartment is about 300 meters from the beach, 50 meters from the final bus stop, and there’s a fairly large parking lot 50 meters away. There’s also a small separate bedroom. The space felt much smaller than the advertised 58 square meters, perhaps about 35, and it was cluttered with lots of useless things. There were no closets, so clothes had to go in a trolley or on the floor. Exactly four flat plates, too. The kitchen had no window or hood, so smells and smoke lingered throughout the apartment. It’s supposedly set up for three people but they also take five. The existing sofas made sleeping five difficult. They treated us as if there were only two of us and prepared just the double bed in the bedroom. I slept as best I could that first night. After I called, they brought sheets and towels for the other two people the next day. The sofa bed was awful, and I don’t know how two people could fit on it. My wife slept there while I got the narrow, basic sofa. The price for what you get seems poor.

The tap water was terrible. I don’t know if that’s true across the whole island, but it wasn’t desalinated, and it felt like bathing made no difference. We stayed four nights, and nobody came in once to change the sheets or towels or even give the place a quick clean. The good part was being so close to the beach and only a few meters from the bus stop. We’ll visit Perissa again, just not this accommodation.
