Ermis Suites

We loved the seaside room. The kitchen had all the utensils you'd need, so we made breakfast there, and there was even a bakery next door. Restaurants were close for dinner, and Chania was just a 20 minute drive when we wanted to eat out of town. Everything was an easy walk away, and we'd happily return. The room was great, though there were a few small dark spots on the ceiling that might have been mould. It didn't seem too alarming, so we weren't too worried, but they should probably check the walls.

A yard shower, a grassy garden with free umbrellas and sunbeds, and a great spot right by the sea. The apartments had air conditioning and kitchens with all the basics; the rooms were clean and quiet, with cleaning every other day. The yard had lots of handmade vases with different plants, and parking for a few cars. The owners and staff were very friendly. Restaurants, shops, a bakery, and ready-made food shops were all within walking distance, and Chania was 20 minutes away by car. This is a place we'll come back to.

I paid a high price and regret it. The shower room wasn't clean, reception was always closed, and the hosts never greeted us, though we may have seen them around. WiFi was only 2 to 3 Mps, so perhaps they'll upgrade to dsl someday. There is a sea view, but the terrace sits on a public path between concrete walls. It's close to everything, but no one mentioned the amusement park right behind it or the loud music from the hotel next door, which went on all night. The garbage truck stops by the ‘villa’ at 6:30 am, so no alarm clock needed.

The room was spacious, and getting a sun lounger in the morning was no problem at all. It was lovely and quiet, had good shade through the day, and there was plenty of room between the sunbeds. Forget the five star hotels next door.
