Amalia Sea Hotel

The location was great and the room was cleaned daily, but there wasn’t much else to like. The room felt old and dated, and the bathroom was so small it was uncomfortable. Despite being called an apartment, it had no sink in the kitchen area, and there was no hairdryer either. Breakfast at Fork31 was exactly the same every day, with no variety. Air conditioning cost an extra €10 per day, which should really have been included. Google Maps shows parking, but there’s no dedicated parking here, so you have to hunt for a space on nearby streets, which can be stressful in peak season. I wouldn’t recommend staying unless location is all you care about and very basic conditions are fine with you.

You’re close to both the beach and the city center, so shopping and nightlife are easy to enjoy. It’s a family-run business, and the owner was very friendly and gave us helpful tips and information. Great value for money, I’d definitely recommend it.

I’d booked a triple room with my sisters, but when we arrived I asked about adding a room for my 15-year-old daughter. The owner said there wasn’t one available and wouldn’t let the three of us check in to the triple room we’d paid for unless my daughter found somewhere else to stay. He wanted her booked at another hotel and asked for our documents before checking us in. We were left waiting outside until we found another place for her, then decided to leave and stay elsewhere because I couldn’t put up with the owner’s rudeness. I’d already paid in advance, but they never returned or refunded the money. It felt discriminatory. Be careful.

The owners and their whole family treated us very well and were so friendly. Everything was clean, and the cleaning lady had a sense of humor, see the pic. Our room and its view were beautiful, and the hotel is right on the beach.
