We loved spending quiet evenings on the terrace, sipping ouzo and taking in the natural surroundings. Every sea-facing room has an amazing view, and for the first two nights, the place was all ours. The owner doesn’t speak English, but we managed to understand each other. Breakfast is basic, though that didn’t matter to us. The shower splashes water everywhere and could be improved, but it wasn’t a big problem. You can walk to the few restaurants and cafes in the village. The final 200 metres of the road are quite steep, so give the accelerator a push if you’ve got a little rental car like we did. Beautiful place, we really miss it.

The setting is superb, though the nearest beach is about 6 km away on foot. We couldn’t sit in the courtyard because of the bees. More troubling, during our stay as a group of about 20, money went missing from the rooms on the second day, €50 or €100 from each affected person, along with a pack of cigarettes. There’s no safe. I told the owner, Mr. Yannis, who said it had never happened before, but we couldn’t reach an agreement, so I called the police. They seemed somewhat on the Greeks’ side. The owner later said he’d return money to those affected, and we thought it would be taken off the total accommodation bill, but that didn’t happen. We were left out of pocket.
