Fan Village

We liked having a separate bedroom and living area, which was useful with a small child, and the balcony had a nice mountain view. The location was another big plus, with the beach and a street full of restaurants, shops, and bars a short walk away. The pool and bar area were good too, and there’s a TV at the bar, though not in the apartment. We were first given a smaller room, but after raising it, got the larger apartment we’d paid for the next day. It was much better. There’s no lift, so getting suitcases up and down the stairs was a hassle.

The staff were very helpful, and our apartment was clean and looked new. There wasn’t any soap or shampoo provided, but a minimarket sits right across the street.

A sandy beach is less than a minute away, and there’s a supermarket across the little road for basics like water, juice, and beer. The place feels relaxed, with friendly people and a bar and snack bar on site. Couples should like it. The bus to Iraklion stops about a minute away, costs €4, and comes roughly every 15 minutes. The ride takes an hour, and Iraklion is well worth seeing for its Venetian fort and Archeological museum, with Knossos another short bus ride from there.

I spent my 50th birthday here and loved the location. The room was comfortable and had a great view. There’s a restaurant on site that’s good for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon drink, plus the beach and loads of local restaurants are very close.
