Afora Houses

The owner's hospitality and recommendations were the highlight of our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, with fast internet and a lovely balcony with a jacuzzi, all in a quiet Santorini village. Definitely recommended!

We wanted somewhere peaceful, and this place delivered. It was very quiet, with a lovely mountain view and morning sun on the small terrace through early afternoon. The room was modern, clean, and tidy. We stayed in the Queen Suite, with two rooms, a bathroom, a queen bed, and a large sofa bed. A few practical details: both rooms had smart TVs, and you could sign in to services like Netflix and Prime. There was CCTV covering the entrance, and the area felt very safe, even though staff weren't on site all the time. The room also had air conditioning, decent Wi-Fi, a nice shower, an espresso machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge with a small freezer compartment, hair dryer, and iron. There were two bottles of water, a chilled bottle of wine, coffee, creamer, and sugar. We brought our own tea, and you can ask them to top up the supplies. Free parking is available. The mini mart is a short walk away, and the supermarket is a 20-minute walk or five-minute drive. The airport is five minutes away, and the farthest parts of the island take around 25-30 minutes to drive to. Hiring a car is a good idea since taxis are expensive. The main disappointment was that our room didn't have cooking facilities, which made meals harder with our kids, one with a dairy allergy and the other a fussy eater. The listing on booking.com said the “King and Queen Suite for 2024” had jacuzzis, but ours didn't. I showed Voula the message when she greeted us at 23:00. She handled the communication and our complaint, explaining the boss had made a mistake and letting us use a jacuzzi in an unoccupied room. It was warm and well maintained, and the kids were happy with it. There was just one night when we couldn't use it. Voula and her sister did a very good job cleaning. We were due to leave at 11am, but because of the jacuzzi mix-up, Voula let us stay until 8pm without charge, since our flight was at 23:40 and we had to return the car at 8pm. That saved us from having to wander around with the kids in the hottest part of the day. There's no reception, but Voula is easy to reach on WhatsApp and responds quickly. After checkout, they let us leave our bags in the storeroom. So, five stars all round, even without cooking facilities or a jacuzzi in our room. We could use the jacuzzi in rooms where no one was staying.

Voula was so kind and helpful at Afora Houses. She arranged our airport transfers and ATV rental, brought little gifts, and even came early in the morning to make sure our bags were taken care of before check-in and checkout. She also sorted an early check-in for us. The room had everything we needed, and we were very happy with the amenities and the cleaning. The hot tub was amazing at sunset, especially with the complimentary white wine. Afora Houses in Vothanas exceeded our expectations.

We had a wonderful stay at Afora houses. The room was beautiful, and the private pool was a lovely spot to relax with a glass of wine. The complimentary wine waiting for us on arrival was a nice surprise. We can't thank Voula enough for her kindness and great hospitality. If you like a quiet area and plenty of privacy on your trip, we'd highly recommend it. We'll definitely stay again if we return to Santorini. Thanks, Voula!
