Hostal Morenos Antigua

We loved it enough to come back several times. It's a great choice if you want somewhere quiet, and it feels more like staying with a family. They're really friendly, and there are two cute cats, several hammocks to relax in, and a really nice breakfast. One small thing they could improve is the dorm door. It catches on the floor and makes a loud noise whenever someone opens it. I wouldn't recommend booking their overnight Acatenango tour, though. Everyone we met who went with the company they represent had a horrible experience. 🥰 😂

We arrived in Antigua late after our flight and found that every hostel was booked because it was Saturday. We ended up spending the night on the street. We'd reserved a room over WhatsApp and even asked for a booking confirmation, but at the desk they said there was no room for us and told us to leave. The guy at the counter had his boss on the phone, and the boss wouldn't even speak to us. When we asked if we could sleep in their hammocks outside, they threatened to call the police. Worst experience ever. Shame on you guys.

The people, breakfast and courtyard were really nice, and both the location and service were great. The room and beds weren't comfortable, though, and cars passed by every two minutes all night.

I came back twice because this is such a cozy, friendly place. The owners are great people, really helpful, and the free breakfast was the best I've had at a hostel. There are lots of comfy hammocks and cute cats. It's small enough to stay calm and quiet at night, but still has a nice social feel during the day. The bathrooms are a bit rough around the edges, though I barely noticed because I liked the place so much. They also have laundry and luggage storage at very reasonable prices. Love it!
