We were told there was parking, but there wasn't. We had to leave the car by the street, walk about 400 feet, and pay separately for parking. No one warned us that the town fair was happening that day, and the noise kept us from sleeping for much of the night. The rooms were clean but not very private. There were no curtains on the windows, large gaps in the bathroom door, and a shower room with a tin sheet laid over the top near the stairs. Some young neighbors took our camera from my two daughters in broad daylight. The dock was nice, though the shore wasn't very clean, and we picked a lot of trash out of the water around it. Food from the cabin kitchen was very expensive. Even with all that, we enjoyed our stay.

Worst stay of my three months traveling here. Byron, the owner, was rude and seemed to make every part of the stay complicated. The place felt dirty and soulless, and it was hard to find. You might arrive by lancha, but getting to shops or cafes means walking through a maze of alleys lined with barbed wire and dog poop.

The views are amazing, the property is nice, and locals were kind enough to help us find it because it was so hard to locate. Still, the stay was terrible, and I hope future guests get better accommodations. The WiFi being down when we arrived was outside the owner's control. After that, one problem followed another. The toilets wouldn't flush, and the showers shut off; during one shower we had to call someone to turn the water back on. My friend got very sick with food poisoning after eating the food and could barely rest. After we posted a review on another site, the owner harassed us, accused us of lying, and told us to “leave his property” because we were trying to let other guests know about the conditions. If he'd been more accommodating as these issues piled up, we'd have been more understanding. He didn't offer even a partial refund, only free breakfast, which we didn't want because of my friend's food poisoning. We left as soon as the sun came up because we no longer felt comfortable. Very unfortunate.

The private Cabana is a quaint, beautifully made space. We rented it for the private bathroom, shower, and kitchenette. Tsunana La Laguna is very quiet, but the dogs bark loudly all night. I learned that dogs in towns all around the lake do this. They can be territorial at night, so bring a walking stick for protection and walk with others.

A great place for a family visit, with rooms for groups of two to nine people. The cabins are comfortable and well designed, the prices are reasonable, and the food is great. The grounds are full of nature, with mountains, trees, flowers, and a lovely view of the lake. It's a quiet place to relax while visiting Lake Atitlán. You can arrive by car on the new road or by boat from other places around the lake.
