Hotel Candelaria Antigua

The hotel is in a quiet part of town, so it was easy to relax, and the rooftop views are lovely. Our room was cozy, the bed was really comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked reliably. There are nice places to sit around the property, too. It's only a short walk to the town center and Cerro de la Cruz, among other sights. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were so friendly and helpful that we felt right at home. A great place to stay in Antigua.

We spent three nights here. The double room was a little small, though still reasonable, and the hotel is about 15 minutes on foot from town. Getting there means narrow sidewalks and cobblestones, so bring good shoes. Next time I'd probably choose somewhere nearer downtown. Live and learn. Breakfast was the same egg menu each day, but they had no trouble making the eggs differently when we asked. It was pretty quiet at night once the courtyard fountain was turned off.

The beds were the one thing I'd change. The mattress was really hard, and a viscoelastic topper might help guests who prefer something softer. Otherwise, the people were so helpful and kind. We hiked Acatenango, and they kept our luggage for free. They also parked our car in a safe spot for a few days, then had it ready outside the hotel when we checked out. Breakfast was very nice, too. It's a beautiful historic building, about a 10-minute walk from the center, and we felt completely safe walking there. From the rooftop terrace you can look across Antigua toward the volcanoes. I'd recommend staying here.

It's a beautiful place, and the service was perfect. Breakfast was amazing and free, so I'd definitely stay here again. My room was small, the beds weren't the best, and it took a long time running the water before it got hot. Still, I loved the place.
