For a basic but comfortable stay with good value, Hennessy Hotel worked well. It’s on a main road, with restaurants and sights within walking distance, and has convenient access to trams, the metro, and buses. Our room was larger than I expected, with enough space for two people and suitcases. It was clean, had everything we needed, and the Wi-Fi was good. Despite being near the main road, it was quiet. The bed was comfortable, and the shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure. Staff were helpful, though you do need a credit card for the deposit. Hong Kong has outlawed free toiletries in rooms, which is great. Shampoo and shower gel are provided, and you can buy other toiletries at a reasonable price if needed.

The location is central, which is great, but at this price everything else is just acceptable. Noise coming through the windows is especially bad. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep, otherwise you may not get much rest.

I only meant to stay one night in late Feb, but extended to four because the hotel was clean and so well located. The manager kindly discounted the extra stay. At first it was a little hard to spot because the entrance was being renovated. I’m not sure whether there was an event near the HK convention center, but hotels around Wan Chai suddenly got pricey the week I arrived. My room was small, though there was enough space for a double bed and a shower where I could stretch my legs. Staff were friendly. The hotel doesn’t have much to offer, but the experience was beyond what I expected. The location is absolutely great, with a 10 minute walk to MTR Wan Chai and 15-20 minutes on foot to Causeway Bay. I did a lot of walking. Buses and the tram also pass by, and there are 7-11 and some local restaurants open 24 hours nearby. My only downside was the cigarette smell around the elevator hall, since my room was next to the fire exit. I think they used a strong air freshener or something in the room, so the smell wasn’t really bad once I went inside. The scent was nice, though.

It’s a fairly clean, livable hotel with okay service, and the location is decent, close to CBW. The room was small but cosy. It’s a basic place with no gym or restaurant, and there’s no water in the room, which is unusual. Worst of all, there’s no telephone in the room. I’ve never come across that before. Every room faces the main road. Buses pass by all day and night, off and on, and the booming noise is very noticeable. Below the 15th floor you may have major issues, and even higher up it isn’t great, so bring earplugs. The room is okay for around HK$500, but I wouldn’t pay more than $600.

The price was too high, though the staff were kind. There should at least be a bottle of water, especially for stays longer than two days.
