Homy Inn North Point

The room was the size of an HK hostel, about 2.5m x 1.5m, with a combined shower and toilet and a small but comfortable bed. Ventilation was good, though I didn’t check the A/c. The welcome was friendly, and they let me leave my bags before the room was ready. Those basics were as expected for a low-end place. The disposable towel was unsatisfactory and just adds to landfill. Hot water had to be requested instead of being on by default. The rooms, stairs, and common areas were run down and needed repairs, and there was a lot of black mould in the washroom. The lifts were slow and unreliable. I’d hoped the place would be better than it was.

DO NOT BOOK Homy Inn North Point cannot guarantee a room free of moss and mold, a basic health need. Booking.com wouldn’t refund me either, even after I showed proof that Homy Inn failed to meet basic cleanliness standards for guests. If you’ve already booked, file a chargeback right away!

I’m on the fence about recommending this place. The location is handy: you can keep costs down by taking an A11 or A12 bus from the airport straight to the accommodation area, with no transfers. The metro and tram also stop almost right outside. The “hotel” itself wasn’t great. My room was tiny, smelled of mold, and I could hear people talking as if they were right next to me. They also ask for a deposit at check-in, so bring enough cash. If location is all that matters to you, maybe it’ll do, but otherwise I’d stay away. And the room photos posted by other reviewers look accurate, so take them at face value.

The room was expected to be small, and that part was fine. The rest was awful. We booked for two adults for five nights, but the place felt decayed and unsettling. Wallpaper was torn and peeling, the ceiling looked neglected, the floors were so worn they seemed ready to crumble, and the furniture was old and shabby. The dim, dreary room felt more abandoned than welcoming. Waking from a nightmare wouldn’t have helped, because the stay itself felt like another one. The toilet had a strange, nasty smell that made it almost unbearable, and the walls were filthy enough that ordinary cleaning probably wouldn’t fix them. The shower pressure was painfully weak, though the hot water was actually hot. Even so, it shocked me that they asked for a 500HKD damage deposit for a room in such poor condition. We couldn’t take it after the third night and checked out early to book somewhere else. The staff said they couldn’t refund the last two nights, and that part was fine. They can take my money, but they can’t take my human dignity.
