Kathmandu Guest House works if you're looking for an inexpensive place in central Hong Kong with a tiny room, just big enough for a bed, at about $23 US a night. It's fine for the basics: the WiFi worked, the toilet and shower functioned, and the amenities and service were acceptable. For luxury, the nearby Peninsula Hotel is an option, though you'd be spending a couple $1000 US a night. For a successful Chungking Mansion stay, my tip is to head out early and return late. The location is handy for seeing the city, then come back to sleep and shower. You can grab food on the first two floors of the Chungking.

They didn't have the single room I'd booked, so I spent the night in a twin room instead. It was clean, the staff were fine and the internet seemed okay, though I didn't put it through much use. Good enough for a night or two.

My room was much smaller than the photos suggested, and I killed a lot of insects after seeing three different types. The building was dirty and smelled awful. Reception was noisy all day, with the receptionist talking and laughing loudly, and they didn't care when warned. I wouldn't recommend it.

The receptionist was rude, and the service here was very poor. The AC didn't cool the room, and the bathroom lights weren't bright enough. I really wouldn't recommend staying here unless you want to be disappointed.

The building felt unsafe, including the electrical setup and the elevator that could take you to the 20th floor. It's dirty, especially the outside area, and there were ladies of the night working there. I'd stay in the mansion across from the metro station instead, as it seemed much cleaner and safer. Don't stay in this building.
