Oasis Avenue-A GDH Hotel

Across from McDonald’s in central Tsim Sha Tsui, the hotel was easy to locate. My seventh-floor room was roomier than I expected, with the basic facilities a visitor needs.

At check-in I was asked for a 1000 HKD deposit, with no advance notice, and was told it would be returned within 7-10 days. It’s been three weeks and I still haven’t received it. The bathroom had none of the basic amenities, not even a toothbrush or toothpaste. When I asked, I was told those were for sale only. This feels like the hotel is trying to rip off its customers.

The room was clean and modern, but it didn’t work well for me as a work guest because there was no table. I had to use a stool at the bathroom counter, where the mirror gives off a lot of heat. We were given just one door card for two guests who were going separate ways. The room tablet stayed unresponsive for half an hour, and I had no door card.

The location worked well, with TST MTR about a five-minute walk away and McDonalds plus plenty of other places to eat across from and beside the hotel. My room felt spacious for two, and I liked the bidet-style toilet. The room controls are on an iPad, though there are regular switches too. I booked through trip.com and check-in was hassle-free. They can store luggage in the lobby for HKD 10 per bag. Recommended.
