Noah´s Ark Resort

We arrived close to 10 pm for a layover, and the setting turned out to be scenic and relaxing. After seeing negative reviews, I found the stay much better than expected. I usually don't book hotels below 4 stars on Google Reviews, but I'd stay here again, and next time I wouldn't rush through a layover. I wish I hadn't had a flight to catch. We got a pleasant surprise at check-in: although we hadn't booked a bridge-facing room, we were upgraded from a Deluxe Twin Room to a huge Grandluxe Room, room 324 on the reception floor. The decor is dated, but the room was clean and well maintained. I liked the tiled floor instead of carpet, and the comfortable sofa was nice for sitting and chatting. There were two comfortable king-size beds, two comfy pillows per person, cotton sheets, a clothes rack rather than a cupboard, an unstocked mini fridge, a kettle, and a powerful Xiaomi 1600W hair dryer. The TV was flat-screen, but we didn't have time to switch it on. No bottled mineral water was provided, but there was a dispenser by reception. The bathroom and WC were separate, which I liked. The towels were fluffy and white. Bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, since only a small hand soap was supplied. The WC didn't have a bidet. Bath gel and shampoo were provided, and the shower pressure was okay. Breakfast was basic but good enough for the price. I didn't like the plastic plates and cups. We took a taxi from HKIA for about HK$250, so have cash. Getting there late by other means seemed difficult: the driver had to honk a couple times to get the gate opened, and we wouldn't have known how to navigate by public transport. Tsing Yi is the closest subway/Airport Express station, with NR330 bus connection for HK$13.80; you'll need an Octopus card. A travel tip: the Airport Express ride from Tsing Yi to Central costs HK$25 in the morning from 7 to 10, except Sundays. Ms Fok at reception was efficient, but felt impersonal and dismissive. After a long flight, a little warmth would've gone a long way, so that took a star off. All the restaurants were closed, and we had to buy instant cup noodles for HK$45 each. If we'd known, we would've picked up something better at the airport.
