Harbour Bay Hotel

The location is handy for food, shopping, and MTR stations, and the place was comfortable and clean. Amenities were complete, though the facilities themselves were simple. The lobby is tiny. Housekeeping only took out the trash and replaced the amenities; they didn’t make the bed, and I’m not sure whether they cleaned the floor. The disposable paper bath towels felt hygienic but were awkward to dry off with.

The room was clean, though very small, which seems normal for Hong Kong. I stayed here for the location: K11 mall and the MTR are nearby, with lots of shops around. It’s in Tsim Sha Tsui, so getting to nearby tourist attractions or going shopping is convenient.

At first I liked the clean, modern interior and the harbour view from the 17th floor. The location is handy for the ferries, and the place itself is nice, but using the room made the design problems obvious. Street noise carries all the way up, even with the window shut. The toilet and shower have separate sections behind a full-length window. There’s a blind, but you can still see outside, so people in the neighboring building might be able to see into those areas. One sliding door serves both sections, which means you can close either the toilet or the shower, but not both. There’s also about a foot of space above the door, so shower steam fills the whole room. There aren’t extras like a gym or room service.

We booked a twin room with a city view. Since it was a corner room, we got lovely natural light, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The room and hotel were clean. The toilet, bath, and sink are separate, which was fine, and toiletries, slippers, and towels were provided. You’re mostly paying for the location, as the hotel itself is small and narrow, though the room size was what I’d expect in Hong Kong. It’s beside the Holiday Inn, where the airport express bus stops, and less than a minute from the K11 elevator down to the TST station area. The actual station platform is a couple of minutes farther. Walls may be thin, since we could hear a neighbor once. Reception staff were less friendly than at other hotels. I’d request a high, quiet, or corner room.
