Star City Hotel - Causeway Bay

We paid a huge amount, around 10 MILLION IDR, for an experience that felt like the opposite of hospitality. The receptionist or manager, Matt, was rude, arrogant, and unfriendly, treating us like trash instead of welcoming us. The hotel is overpriced, the rooms aren’t worth the money, and it felt like staff only wanted our money and didn’t care how we were treated. If management keeps treating customers this way, the place will definitely go bankrupt, and honestly, it deserves to. Save your money and sanity. You’ll regret booking here. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!!

We ended up leaving and booking another hotel because we had no confidence in the hygiene, even after they offered to show us a different room. I tried to get a refund, but they refused. There were ants crawling everywhere, and the mattress, pillows, and other furniture were old and stained. The place is actually one flat in a residential building, divided into multiple rooms. At 500hkd+ a night, that’s just unacceptable.

Double booking also seems to happen a lot. The price isn’t even cheap, so there’s nothing to make up for the poor quality. This isn’t really a hotel, but a few apartments in different buildings, each split into several “hotel rooms.” You might even be assigned a room in an apartment that’s a 15min walk away. Please don’t stay here.

We booked a family room, but the guy double booked it and the room we had reserved wasn’t available. The rooms were an absolute disgrace, much too small, and the stay wasn’t what we’d booked. You can’t really shower properly because there’s no separate shower area and the toilet seat is right there. If you do manage to shower, the whole bathroom stays wet for two days. At night people yelled, screamed, and slammed doors. The lights stopped working, and the heating system didn’t work at all. Service was very bad. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at, and I’ll never come back or recommend it.
