Rambler Oasis Hotel

I ended up riding out a typhoon indoors here while trying to quit smoking, so it turned into a stay I won't forget. The rooms are really small and humid, and there's not much of interest close by. The low price brings in lots of travelers, though, and they were interesting to talk with. Staff and other residents were kind and helpful.

The location made getting around easy, with minibuses 88F and 88G nearby for the MTR, plus L1 Shopping mall and a 7/11 about two minutes away. Taxis were close too. I recommend downloading uber for a discount. The hotel felt like a quiet break from Hongkong's busy streets, almost like being in the province. Our room was cleaned each day without us asking, and everyone was friendly. We got upgraded from Standard, and the new room had plenty of space. Manager Nick also let us check out late for free, even though our checkout time was 12pm. We had a lovely stay at Rambler Oasis and would definitely recommend it and return. 🤍

We had room 3008, and the view was amazing. To reach the hotel from the airport, take bus A32 from the left side of the terminal and get off at CHING TAO HOUSE CHEUNG CHING EST. Then follow the road signs on foot. You can pay with gotyme or a credit card. For nearby trips, minibus 88F goes to Maritime Square, where you can catch the MTR at Tsing Yi Station to go anywhere. That bus needs an OCTOPUS CARD, though, since it doesn't take gotyme or credit cards. We highly recommend the hotel and will stay here again when we're back in HK.

Tsing Yi is quieter than places like Tsim Sha Tsui or Central, and the hotel is a practical, budget-minded base if you're comfortable planning around public transport. Buses and MTR stations make the rest of the city reachable, though it's not central, and there aren't many dining or shopping choices nearby. The rooms are basic but functional and generally clean. They can be cramped and dated, as budget rooms in Hong Kong often are. Service is simple, with staff usually polite and helpful but not especially attentive, and amenities are limited. For a short visit, or a longer stay of a week if you don't mind being farther from the main sights, it's a sensible option when affordability matters more than luxury.
