Eaton HK

The location was incredible, with so much nearby and a great neighborhood for walking around and exploring. We had a great stay at Eaton. Our room had nice decor and plenty of storage, and it was always made up by the time we got back, which we really appreciated in such a big hotel. Breakfast was delicious. I’d especially recommend it on the weekend. The service was great too.

The swimming pool was clean and warm, but way too small. The gym was nice, though it didn’t have many facilities, and I’ve seen better gyms at four-star hotels in HK. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in Hong Kong, with lovely coffee and great Chinese, Western, and HK options. I paid 121 HKD per person, which is good for a hotel here. There are also good restaurants nearby, so you don’t have to eat at the hotel. Australian Dairy Company is famous and has a breakfast set for 48 HKD, but it isn’t close, so I’d still recommend the hotel breakfast. My room on the 15th floor had a fantastic view of the YMT area. The rooms are tiny and compact, as you’d expect in Yau Tsim Mong, but mine had what I needed. Lower floor rooms might not have that view. Reception staff were super friendly and helpful, and spoke English, Cantonese, and Mandarin fluently. Breakfast staff were attentive and friendly too. The location is hard to beat, right beside the famous Temple Street Night Market and a lot of bus stops. Traffic on Nathan Street and Gascoigne Road can get congested, but the buses are a nice way to get around. Jordan MTR station is about 400 m away, and the Tsuen Wan Line serves lots of attractions. It’s also very convenient to get to West Kowloon or the airport, especially the former. Great place to start a visit!

The hotel itself was very nice, though the shower barely had any pressure. An assistant manager, Clinton, was genuinely helpful when I returned that evening. He took my pants to get the stain removed and gave me a complimentary breakfast, which I appreciated. Earlier, I’d asked guest services for an iron for the morning. It had melted nylon on it, and that stained my pants. I called back to explain and ask urgently for a replacement. The staff member laughed when I said the pants were ruined and hoped they’d clean or replace them. I waited 20 minutes, then called to cancel because I had to leave. They asked me to wait while they personally brought up another iron right away. I waited 10 more minutes and nobody came, so I left in wrinkled, stained pants. A cleaning lady finally showed up with the iron as I was heading out, too late for me to use it. That evening I also called about taking home one of the glass water jugs, since the label said to contact guest services. The staff member was very rude. He told me, “Those aren’t for taking home.” When I pointed out what the label said, he replied, “Ugh, OK they’re $90.” I was tired of dealing with the poor service and ended the call. I wouldn’t recommend contacting guest services for anything.

The location is superb, just a five-minute walk to the night market, with all kinds of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel is well maintained and has a huge food hall open to the public, with delicious food. What made the biggest difference was how kind and helpful the staff were. My husband had a sudden medical emergency, and managers and employees kept assisting me throughout. Their kind words and little treats made a very difficult time more tolerable. I’m extremely grateful for their kindness and highly recommend the place. Other guests said their rooms were awesome, but ours was tight, with no storage or privacy, more like an open studio.
