Grand Bay View Hotel

We were a family group of 11 spread across three rooms, and everything went smoothly. Simpson and Tommy, the middle aged man in the light blue jacket, were especially helpful at reception with our logistics. The team kept up the service throughout, with fresh towels and a proper room cleaning every day. We’d definitely return to the Grand Bay View Hotel.

We spent five nights here with my daughter, and my family really enjoyed the trip. There was a small issue with our room, but the staff arranged a room change right away. The hotel isn’t close to the train station, though its shuttle runs to Tsuen Wan area on a fixed schedule. The staff were very helpful with information, and Yannis at the front office patiently explained attractions and how to get around. A good place to stay.

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There’s fast WIFI and a free shuttle to the nearest MTR every 30 minutes, though the hotel is pretty far from the center. It could suit you if you want some quiet and a feel for Tsuen Wan. What upset me most was losing my favorite white sando. I reported the missing white undershirt to the cleaning lady and reception, but neither got back to me. There’s no free water either. We considered adding a night, but the rate would have been 2000 HKD PER NIGHT, so we found somewhere else.

The room had a nice view and no bad smell, and aside from stains on the carpet, it was clean. Still, the interior felt extremely old, like student dormitories back in Eastern Europe where I come from, and things seemed to be falling apart. A piece of the shower came down on me while I was using it. You have to buy your own water, and the towels are tiny pieces of cloth. That’s why I gave it three stars. It feels like a Spartan student dorm pretending to be a hotel, though it’s not nearly as bad as many reviews make out.
